1) When is rain season in Roatan?
The rain season in Roatan is from October to January. There can be several days without rain and lots of sun during this period as well as days with a mix of both.
2) How are the grocery stores?
There are larger grocery stores near the airport that carry most items that you would need. There are several smaller grocery stores and fruit and vegetable stands located throughout Roatan. We recommend stopping at one of the larger grocery stores on your way from the airport to your rented property.
3) Should I rent a car?
A rental car is a fun way to explore the island at your own tempo, but not always necessary depending on the location of your rental property. For your convenience, personal chauffeurs can be hired hourly or daily.
4) Are there accessible ATM’s around the island?
There are many ATM machines located on Roatan. These machines only dispense local currency. The current exchange rate is approximately 25 Lempiras to 1 US dollar.
5) Do I need an adapter for the electrical outlets there?
The electrical outlets in Roatan are the same as those in the US and Canada; no adapter is required.
6) Is maid service included?
Once weekly maid service is complimentary with all reservations of 7 or more days. This will also include fresh linens. Additional maid services can be arranged for a fee.
7) Are there mosquitoes or sand flies in Roatan?
Some areas of the island have sand flies and mosquitoes. Dawn and dusk are more prevalent times of day for them, so we recommend that guests bring with them an environmentally friendly bug spray.
8) Is a passport required to travel to Roatan?
For all non Honduran visitors, a passport is required when traveling to Roatan. Your passport must be valid for 6 months past the date of travel.
9) Can I bring a pet with me?
Please inquire with us if your desired vacation rental accepts pets. Service animals may be permitted and will require a ‘pet deposit’ fee.
